Diana - Babson, 2018
After 5 years of work experience, I decided to study a Full Time MBA, I used to love my job, but I wanted to have the complete experience of living in another country and be 100% focus on my studies. I truly believe, that an important part of an MBA program is to meet new people from different countries and different backgrounds so if you stay in your comfort zone, that is way more difficult to achieve.
I studied in Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez in Chile because it focuses on entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability. The network is also important and this university gave me the chance to connect with more than 20 Universities around the world to study the last semester.
I decided to do my exchange program at Babson because of the entrepreneurship reputation but it exceed my expectations because my knowledge went further than that. Babson's methodology was very different from what I used to be familiarized with. In most of the courses, class participation represents a big percentage of the final grade. That was a big challenge, each class was made up of more than fifty students from more than fifteen different countries. It was hard at the beginning, but I had no option, so I lost any fear and I ended it up making value comments being the only Central American girl.
This experience not only helped me in the entrepreneurial skill but also gave an open mind in terms of culture and expand my networking around the world. Unfortunately, the time went by very fast but without a doubt I enjoyed every single moment. The MBA gave an important boost in my career, now I have a manager position in an important company in my country, so I’m happy I’m able to make a significant change in my community. Before my startup, I want a few years more of experience.
